A position in the group of research and teaching academics

is available at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics

Specialization: Financial and Insurance Mathematics.

Pursuant to the Law of Higher Education and Science, the University of Warsaw invites applications for a position of Professor (pol. profesor ) in the group of research and teaching academics in the Institute of Mathematics, specialization: Financial and Insurance Mathematics.

Terms of employment: starting date 1st Oct. 2023 or 1st Feb. 2024 ,full time, employment for 4 years with the possibility of extension for an indefinite period based on a positive work/performance evaluation for the last year of employment. The person employed will carry out research in mathematics and will have teaching duties (180 teaching hours per academic year). Basic salary: 7 836.00 gross per month plus the allowance for years of service (1 of the basic remuneration for each year of service); this amount may be increased by 10 to 40 by remuneration allowances for the most active academics, see the Remuneration Rules at the University of Warsaw.

Requirements. Successful candidates for the University professor position should have:

1. title of professor;

2. a recent and significant scientific achievement in Financial or Insurance Mathematics;

3. achievements in organizational work, experience in managing research projects;

4. achievements in teaching, e.g. in promoting theses or in education of PhD students;

5. the ability to teach in Polish and in English.

Applications should be submitted to the Dean’s office via website with the following attachments:

1. a cover letter addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics,

• with the signed consent to the processing of personal data for the purpose of recruitment in accordance with

the General Data Protection Regulation (see attachment);

• containing the following statement: I hereby confirm that I am aware that the recruitment process is an open

competition, governed by the Statute of the University of Warsaw, par. 115 and I accept these rules.

2. a copy of a document that confirms holding the title of Professor;

3. an academic CV with a list of publications, (see sample documents at https://www.mimuw.edu.pl/en/open-positions;

4. copies of selected publications (not more than 3);

5. a description of research projects and organizational plans for the next 2-3 years (maximum 2 pages);

6. names, affiliations and contact details of 3 possible referees.

Application deadline: 5th February, 2023

The applications will be evaluated by the Competition Committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw. A candidate may be invited to an interview by the committee. The decision date is 31st May 2023 (an e-mail notification will be provided). The competition is the first stage of the recruitment process as described in the Statute of the University of Warsaw, the recommendation by the Competition Committee being a basis for further proceedings.
