COMPETITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, with the consent of the Rector of the University of Warsaw, announces a competition for the position of an Assistant Professor (F/M).

Form of employment and length of working time (proportionally to full-time employment): Full-time employment under a fixed-term employment contract
Expected date of commencement of work and employment period: 1 October 2026 or 1 February 2027, 4 years. On positive assessment after the last year of employment, the contract can be extended for an indefinite period.
Remuneration
Basic salary: PLN 10,500 gross per month, increased by a seniority allowance (1% for each documented year of service in accordance with applicable regulations) and a 13th-month salary. In justified cases, in particular for the most scientifically active individuals, the salary may be additionally increased by 10–40% in accordance with the Remuneration Regulations of the University of Warsaw.

Basic responsibilities and obligations
The selected candidate will:
- conduct scientific research in the field of computer science,
- teach academic courses (210 teaching hours per year).

Conditions for entering the competition
- PhD degree in computer science or a related discipline.
- Significant research publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals or international conference proceedings in computer science.
- Experience in teaching and readiness to engage in teaching-related organisational activities.
- Proven international research experience (e.g., postdoctoral fellowships, participation in international projects).
- Submission of a plan for future research activity.

Additional assets: Recent postdoctoral research stay abroad (within the last two years), a record of high-quality publications with strong research productivity, and clear prospects for continued research excellence.
If hired, it is expected that the University of Warsaw will be the primary place of employment.
Criteria for the assessment of candidates in a competition
Criteria for Evaluating Scientific Activity
- Publications. The quality of the most important publications indicated in the application is assessed based on their substantive value, the number of citations, and the reputation of the journal, conference, or publishing house (in the case of monographs). In particular, at least two high-quality publications in a reputable venue are required (e.g., at a conference with at least an A rating in the ICORE ranking).
- Funding and commercialization. Obtained research grants. Collaboration with industry, patents, expert opinions, implementations.
- Visibility in the scientific community. Awards and distinctions; invited papers; participation in scientific or conference program committees; reviewing for journals, conferences, publishing houses, and grant-awarding institutions; participation in journal editorial boards, including as a guest editor; participation in degree and title awarding procedures and reviewing scientific achievements.
- Experience abroad. Research internships at foreign research centers, scientific collaboration with scholars from foreign centers, papers presented at international scientific conferences.
- Leadership in science. Managing research groups and projects (including informal ones), posing scientific problems and leading in publications, educating junior research staff (with particular emphasis on supervising doctoral students).

Criteria for Evaluating Teaching Activity
- Experience. Number of classes and diversity in terms of topics and formats (lectures, laboratories, tutorials, seminars, coordination of large-scale courses), assessed based on a submitted list of classes conducted, including: course name, number of teaching hours, type of classes (lecture, tutorials, laboratories, etc.), academic year; in the case of joint classes, this should be indicated.
- Quality. Awards and distinctions. Results of student surveys, observations, and evaluations. Quality of the sample of classes presented during the interview.
- Innovation and materials. Implementation of new methods, tools, content, and curricula. Authorship or co-authorship of textbooks and other teaching materials.
- Mission. Outreach activities. Disseminating teaching knowledge among teachers, projects and initiatives within the framework of lifelong learning, involvement in teaching organizations, and organizing and participating in teaching conferences. Coordinating teaching projects and engaging students in research projects. Conducting classes for gifted youth and students, and participating in the organization of Olympiads. Languages: Sufficient knowledge of English or Polish to conduct classes and communicate with students.

Stages of competition
The competition consists of the following stages:Stage I - formal evaluation of documents,
Stage II - substantive evaluation on the basis of submitted documents,
Stage III - interview with selected candidates (achievements and research plans presentation (10 minutes), teaching sample (10 minutes), questions from the committee),
Stage IV - final evaluation of competence, experience and scientific achievements,
Stage V - adjudication of the competition and announcement of results.
